The Biclorama Cycling School: Regaining Confidence, One Pedal at a Time

At the heart of the “little cycling house,” the Biclorama Cycling School offers personalized support for those who wish to learn or relearn how to ride a bike, with confidence and at their own pace.

This initiative, led by the Cyclo Club du Chalabrais – Biclorama, is aimed at everyone: children, adults, seniors, people in vulnerable or precarious situations, or simply those who have never had the opportunity to learn. Here, there’s no judgment, just caring and tailored support.

Why a cycling school?

Because cycling isn’t just a leisure activity: it’s a tool for freedom, health, and independence. By giving people back the opportunity to travel by bike, we are working towards:

  • Soft and environmentally friendly mobility,
  • Physical and mental health,
  • Self-esteem,
  • And social inclusion, particularly for people who are far from mobility.

How does it work?

Sessions are offered in small groups or individually, depending on needs, and are led by trained volunteers or cycling ambassadors. They can take place on the greenway, on safe circuits, or in urban areas to improve their ability to navigate traffic.

You will learn:

  • How to balance,
  • How to start, brake, and turn,
  • How to control your bike in different contexts,
  • How to ride safely with other road users.

A springboard to independence

The bike school is fully aligned with the objectives of Biclorama, which seeks to promote access to mobility for all, particularly through educational, inclusive, and community-based initiatives. It’s part of the “health-well-being” and “culture-education” components of the Tous en Selle program, run by the Biclorama project association.

It’s also a meeting place, a place of conviviality, where people share experiences, smiles, and successes—and sometimes even a few falls—always with kindness.
